How are SHERA Products better than WPC product.
SHERA products are always the best choice over WPC product mainly because of following reasons:
• Stable composition of sand and cement that gives a sustainable life to the product.
• Resistance against deformation and deterioration (warping).
• SHERA is also non-combustible.
• Wood Plastic Composite products are expensive.
• Fading of paint due to weather impact is very prominent in WPC products as
the colors are pigmented or applied as a film during manufacturing process.
• Repainting of SHERA product surface is easily possible.
• SHERA products gives natural wooden finish look and feel when compare to WPC.
• Impact strength of SHERA products are very high.
• Wind resistance of SHERA products application is very high compare to WPC
application.
Water absorption value of SHERA products is very high. How can we recommend for external application?
SHERA products has water absorption less than 30% which is under standard test condition, where product is tested when the sample of SHERA product is in absolute dry state and then kept in submerged condition under ambient temperature for 24 hrs as per test standards. However, in actual site conditions water absorption is very low. Water absorption property can be enhanced by applying water based cement primer from all 6 sides of products.
What is the impact of temperature variation on SHERA products when used in external application & why?
SHERA products offer wide range of product which can be used in external application and comes with excellent resistance to thermal movement (meaning expansion and contraction of products due to variation in temperature). The coefficient of linear expansion of SHERA products is negligible making it choice for external applications with temperature variations.
Are SHERA products fireproof? Yes or no? Please explain.
No. SHERA products are fire-resistant and non-combustible; however, one can achieve a fire rating system from 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on the client's requirements.
Why should one use SHERA boards instead of other brands for roof underlay applications?
• Better Modulus of Rupture
• Better flexibility
• Better toughness
• Better impact strength
• Better thermal resistance
Is there any impact on SHERA products when used in external applications due to extreme climatic conditions, and how would you justify your statement?
SHERA products offer excellent Modulus of Rupture properties in wet conditions, making them a Type A, Category 3 product as per IS 14862:2000. Additionally, SHERA products have excellent resistance to thermal and moisture movement, meaning they effectively withstand expansion and contraction caused by variations in temperature and moisture. It is recommended to apply water-based cement primer from all 6 sides of product to enhance water resistance properties.
If there is a water seepage on existing brick wall what is the available solution with SHERA. Also mention installation process.
SHERA offers wide range of products that can be used as per the requirements of the customers to hide wall surface with water seepage. We can install all the SHERA products on existing wall using Aluminium frames as per SHERA standards.

• For external applications, aluminium or MS (mild steel) frames are recommended, depending on the specific application.
How do MOR values influence the performance of fibre cement boards?
MOR (Modulus of Rupture), also known as the bending strength of a board, measures the board's strength before rupture (breaking). It is one of the key parameters used to determine whether the product is suitable for external applications. As per IS 14862:2000, boards with an MOR below 7 MPa cannot be used for external applications. A higher MOR value indicates better bending strength and overall improved performance of the board. MOR also decides the category of fibre cement boards, whether Type A or Type B.
What thickness can be used for exterior & interior applications?
For exterior application, we recommend using 8mm and onwards. For interior application, all SHERA products can be used as per the requirements.
Is it possible to use tiles, wallpaper, or laminates on SHERA boards?
As mentioned in the SHERA Tile Cladding Manual, we can use tiles, wallpaper, or laminates with suitable adhesives. For tiling on SHERA wall systems, we recommend 6mm boards, the weight of tile cladding should not exceed 30 kg/m
Are SHERA products waterproof and fireproof?
SHERA products are water-resistant & fire-resistant. Water cannot damage the product, & SHERA products retain all their properties after drying. Additionally, SHERA products do not burn and have excellent fire resistance properties.
What will happen if we apply SHERA product directly on wall, i.e., without framing?
• When cladding a SHERA product directly on the wall, be aware of the potential for water trapping.
• Ensure proper drainage for trapped water or moisture to prevent issues such as swelling or paint peeling.
• Verify that the wall's line level is accurate before installation.
• Use concrete fasteners for securing SHERA products to internal walls.
• For external walls, refer to SHERA manuals and use MS/GI/Aluminum framing support as recommended.
